A few Shadowlands beta testers have reported
Blizzard has updated their minimal required spec to TBC Classic Gold add 100GB storage area for both SSDs and hard drives. However, they warn players who performance of your hard disk might influence Shadowland's gaming experience.

A few Shadowlands beta testers have reported that running the game on an HDD hasn't affected their performance or gameplay in any significant way. However, because this growth is still in beta, this can be subject to change.

However, it's most likely a good idea to run this game on an SSD anyhow (here's our list of Best SSDs). If you look at games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare which don't require an SSD but have very large storage requirements, the cheap WOW Classic TBC Gold game is playable but you'll encounter painfully long loading times. You can also potentially encounter"hitching" in which the HDD isn't fast enough to stream resources in real time.
